Winter

The smell of winter is the air, Life's pulse has stowed. it seems the earth is held in icy stillness and silence. Held fast- unyielding But within its cold still darkness There is still a fecund spark, a memory Of warmth and life. That spark will keep alive those memories of warmth and growth, Until it stirs and burgeons When once again nature's purpose is fulfilled, Winter flees, to wait for nature's call once more To wrap the earth in silence and regeneration,
